More to come on this, but for the time being;
KEYNOTE #1 Paul Curtis www.newtechfoundation.org
Some short, quick notes from Paul’s commentary to his slides;
- Problem-based learning vs doing projects ….
- The project is the curriculum!
- Externalise the “enemy”
- Make it like a football game – have “spectators” to assess the completed project.
- Technology tools are valuable but …..when used for authentic assessment they support 21st century classroom pedagogies.
- Grade by course vs grade by skills ….create a gradebook that records performance in desireable skills.
- Project briefcase ….replace the textbook as the organisational tool (SharePoint)
- Teachers must be curriculum developers
- Calendar used to outline course details…daily
- Without 1:1 teachers slide back to traditional ways
- Levers for change …… how can I create an environment in which teachers can do???
